Syngenta Launches REVERTE Soil Regeneration Program in Paraguay

16 June 2025, ParaguaySyngenta has officially launched its REVERTE soil regeneration program in Paraguay, marking the first country in Syngenta’s newly defined LATAM region to adopt the initiative. The pilot program is designed to support farmers in adopting regenerative agricultural practices and securing long-term financing to rehabilitate degraded lands into productive farmland.

Initially, REVERTE will work with selected producers in Paraguay’s Chaco and Eastern regions, focusing on those with degraded soils who meet the program’s selection criteria. The project applies systemic restoration approaches, combining crop rotation, cover cropping, no-till farming, and precision agriculture to improve soil health and productivity.

In partnership with Banco Itaú Paraguay S.A., through its Itaú Campo initiative, participating farmers will have access to term loans and preferential financing rates. The international civil society organization Solidaridad will oversee agronomic monitoring and verify compliance with program implementation standards.

Launched previously in Brazil in 2021, REVERTE® has already restored more than 250,000 hectares of land there. The program’s expansion into Paraguay was officially presented during the inaugural “Regenerating Agriculture” Forum held in Asunción, which brought together farmers, distributors, and policymakers to explore the potential of regenerative agriculture, carbon markets, and climate change mitigation in the country.

Mariale Álvarez, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs LATAM at Syngenta, stated: “We are proud that Paraguay is the first country in our new LATAM region to adopt REVERTE®. This initiative offers sustainable solutions to restore degraded soils, improve productivity, and help farmers operate efficiently while protecting natural resources.”
