UPL Corp Australia Unveils Thiopron® Biofungicide for Grapevines at WineTech 2025
30 July 2025, Australia: UPL Corp Australia introduced its innovative biofungicide Thiopron® at WineTech 2025, held last week in Adelaide. The product launch attracted strong interest from the viticulture community during the premier trade event, which brought together over 4,000 participants to explore cutting-edge innovations and sustainable practices in the Australian and New Zealand wine industries.
Thiopron® is a next-generation sulphur-based biofungicide developed under UPL’s Natural Plant Protection (NPP) portfolio. Engineered to deliver high efficacy with minimal residue, it presents a sustainable solution for protecting grapevines—particularly against powdery mildew, a persistent challenge in vineyards worldwide.
Andrea Bergamaschi, UPL’s Global Product Manager for Copper & Sulphur, highlighted the formulation’s scientific foundation and practical advantages. “Thiopron represents a major step forward in sustainable viticulture. It combines the power of elemental sulphur with a novel formulation approach to reduce residues while enhancing disease control,” Bergamaschi said during the launch.
The product is now available in key wine-producing regions across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Latin America, supporting growers seeking environmentally responsible solutions without compromising performance.
