Disease Management in Onion Crop in India

18 May 2025, New Delhi: When Downy mildew coexists with Purple blotch, controlling both diseases simultaneously becomes challenging for farmers. This is where the combination of Fluopicolide 5.56% w/w + Propamocarb Hydrochloride 55.6% w/w SCcomes into play, as per recommendations by the Central Insecticide Bureau under India’s Ministry of Agriculture.

  • Active Ingredient (a.i.): 62.5 + 625 g to 78.1 + 781.3 g/ha
  • Formulation Dosage: 1000–1250 ml/ha
  • Water Dilution: 375–500 Litres/ha
  • Waiting Period: 25 days

Fluopicolide acts on cell membranes of oomycetes like Downy mildew, while Propamocarb controls purple blotch caused by Alternaria species. This dual-mode action ensures healthy foliage and high bulb quality during critical growth stages.
