Managing Anthracnose and Powdery Mildew in Mango Using Azoxystrobin 23% SC
Crop Protection Advisory for Mango Farmers in India
18 May 2025, New Delhi: Anthracnose and powdery mildew are two of the most prevalent diseases that threaten mango productivity in India. These fungal infections can significantly affect fruit quality and yield if not treated effectively. One of the fungicides approved by the Central Insecticide Board under the Ministry of Agriculture for treating these diseases is Azoxystrobin 23% SC.
Azoxystrobin is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide that targets multiple fungal pathogens. For mango crops, a dosage of 0.025% active ingredient (a.i.) is effective. This translates to a formulation of 0.1% or 100 ml per 100 liters of water, depending on the size of the tree.
It is crucial to dilute it properly, using 100 liters of water per hectare, depending on canopy coverage. The waiting period from the last application to harvest is relatively short—only 5 days—making it suitable for use close to harvest season.
