Managing Post-Harvest Diseases in Onion with Fluopyram + Tebuconazole
Disease Management in Onion Crop in India
18 May 2025, New Delhi: After harvest, onion bulbs are prone to black mold and neck rot, which severely affect storage life and market value. These are caused by Aspergillus niger and Botrytis allii, respectively.
The Central Insecticide Bureau under the Ministry of Agriculture recommends Fluopyram 17.7% w/w + Tebuconazole 17.7% w/w SC to manage post-harvest infections.
- Active Ingredient (a.i.): 75 g + 75 g/ha
- Formulation Dosage: 375 ml/ha
- Water Dilution: 500 Litres/ha
- Waiting Period: 30 days
This combination provides both preventive and curative action. Fluopyram offers long residual control, while Tebuconazole disrupts fungal growth at multiple stages. It is advisable to use this treatment 30 days before harvesting for best results.
