Andhra Pradesh Sets 5.1 Million Tonne Procurement Target as Kharif Paddy Purchase Begins on 3 November

03 November 2025, New Delhi: The government of Andhra Pradesh is set to begin its paddy procurement campaign for the 2025-26 kharif season on 3 November. The initiative aims to procure 5.1 million tonnes (51 lakh tonnes) of paddy, an increase from last year’s 3.4 million tonnes. The announcement was made by State Minister for Civil Supplies, Nandendla Manohar, who said the move is designed to streamline the procurement process and address concerns raised by farmers affected by recent rains.

Digital-First Registration via WhatsApp

To facilitate an efficient and transparent procurement process, farmers can now register through WhatsApp by sending the message “HI” to +91 73373 59375. The state has adopted a largely paperless, digital system to reduce delays and improve accessibility.

More than 3,000 Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) and around 2,000 procurement centres will operate across the state. Over 10,500 personnel have been deployed to ensure a smooth transaction process for farmers.

Faster Payments and Quality Assurance

Under the revised system, farmers are assured payment within 48 hours of selling their produce. The state has upgraded its digital banking infrastructure to support this timeline. Regulations on grain quality, moisture content, and transportation have been enforced to avoid disruptions during the procurement period.

The formal launch of the procurement drive will take place at Arugolanu village in Tadepalligudem constituency on 3 November. The government expects that the higher procurement target and enhanced systems will help offset losses faced by farmers due to crop exposure to recent rains.

Directions Issued to Millers

The government has also issued directives to rice millers to prepare adequate facilities, including moisture-testing equipment, storage bags, and transport arrangements. Officials said the procurement will be monitored closely to maintain transparency and efficiency across the chain.
