FICCI Welcomes Union Budget 2026, Highlights Focus on Rural Growth and Manufacturing

03 February 2026, New Delhi: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has welcomed the Union Budget 2026, describing it as an inclusive budget that ensures continuity of structural reforms while prioritising long-term stability and growth.

Reacting to the Budget, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chairman, FICCI Committee on Agriculture and President – Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, said the Budget aligns with the vision of Vikshit Bharat 2047and places strong emphasis on strengthening the rural economy. He noted that the focus on high-value crops, promotion of allied sectors such as animal husbandry, textiles and tourism, along with continued investment in rural infrastructure and technology, would support inclusive economic growth.

Nakra further highlighted initiatives such as Bharat Vistar, skill development programmes, the introduction of She Marts, and the establishment of girls’ hostels in every taluka as meaningful steps to enable wider participation in India’s growth story. He added that measures to scale up manufacturing and the introduction of ISM 2.0 reinforce India’s AtmaNirbhar manufacturing ambitions.
