Kisan Diwas 2025: Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Message to Farmers
23 December 2025, New Delhi: On Kisan Diwas 2025, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan conveyed a message of assurance and partnership to farmers across the country, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Chouhan said that the nation’s progress is deeply linked to the prosperity of its farmers, and building a Viksit Bharat is not possible without empowering those who feed the country. He emphasised that government policies are being shaped with a clear focus on ensuring income security for farmers while also safeguarding the welfare of agricultural workers who support farming operations.
Highlighting the recently approved Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB–G RAM G Act, the Minister said the new law has been framed to keep farmers satisfied and workers economically secure. He noted that the strengthened framework ensures better availability of labour during critical agricultural operations such as sowing and harvesting, reducing the challenges farmers often face during peak seasons.
Chouhan also pointed out that for the first time, rural workers will receive a guarantee of 125 days of employment annually, an increase over the earlier provision, which will help stabilise rural incomes while maintaining balance with agricultural needs. According to him, this integrated approach will benefit both farmers and labourers, creating a more resilient rural economy.
On the occasion of Kisan Diwas 2025, the Minister urged farmers to stay informed, adopt scientific practices, and actively engage with institutions such as Krishi Vigyan Kendras to make full use of government initiatives. He reiterated that the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains committed to increasing farmers’ incomes, strengthening rural employment, and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.
