Madhya Pradesh: Truck Seized in Raisen for Carrying Counterfeit Fertiliser, 92 Bags of Substandard DAP Confiscated

29 July 2025, RaisenAs part of a state-wide crackdown on counterfeit fertilisers and black marketing, a major operation in Raisen district has led to the seizure of a truck loaded with fake DAP fertiliser. The action was taken following a directive from Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, who launched a special campaign to curb the distribution of substandard agri-inputs across Madhya Pradesh.

The incident occurred in Bagod village of Raisen, where vigilant villagers raised suspicions about the quality of fertiliser being sold in large quantities. Acting swiftly, they informed the local administration. Promptly, a joint team from the agriculture and revenue departments reached the spot and intercepted the truck.

92 Bags of Substandard Fertiliser Found

Upon inspection, officials discovered 92 bags of fertiliser allegedly being sold under the name of DAP. Preliminary checks confirmed that the material did not meet quality standards. A formal seizure (panchanama) was executed, and the truck along with the fertiliser was impounded.

Further testing by a Bhopal-based laboratory confirmed that the fertiliser samples were substandard. The findings validated fears that farmers in the region were being misled and sold counterfeit inputs.

FIR Registered, Investigation Underway

The police have registered an FIR, and investigation is ongoing to trace the source and those responsible for the distribution network. Notably, a similar case was reported on July 24 in Nagod village, where counterfeit fertiliser was seized and an FIR was lodged at Salamatpur police station.
