Major Action Against Fertilizer Theft in Madhya Pradesh, 180 Bags Seized on Bhind-Gwalior Highway
25 August 2025, New Delhi: A major case of fertilizer theft has come to light in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district. Acting on the spot, the district administration and agriculture department seized 180 bags of fertilizer being transported illegally on the Bhind-Gwalior highway near Gyanendrapura village in Mehgaon block.
District Collector Sanjeev Srivastava was inspecting fertilizer sale centers when he noticed two tractor-trolleys carrying fertilizer suspiciously. On being asked to provide the required documents, the drivers failed to produce any valid papers. The Collector immediately ordered the seizure of both trolleys and handed them over to Deputy Director of Agriculture, Kamal Kumar Pandey, for further action.
The seized stock included around 140 bags of urea and 40 bags of APS (Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate). The agriculture department has initiated proceedings as per rules.
Officials said that this action is aimed at curbing fertilizer theft and illegal transportation, ensuring that farmers receive timely and adequate supply of fertilizers. The crackdown also serves as a stern warning to those attempting to disrupt the fertilizer distribution system and harm farmers’ interests.
