PAU Athletic Meet Concludes, Colleges Of Agri-engineering And Agriculture Lift Overall Trophies
02 March 2026, Punjab: The College of Agricultural Engineering (COAE) and the College of Agriculture (COA) won the overall Athletic Trophies in men and women category, respectively, during the closing ceremony of the 59thAnnual Athletic Meet at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The prize-distribution function celebrated the achievements of the budding sportspersons by rewarding them for their par-excellence performance in various sports events. The title of the best athlete, second and third best athletes (M) was bestowed upon Jasandeep Singh Sandhu (COAE), Gurmanjot Singh (COAE) and Avikash Singh (COA), respectively. In women category, Gurpreet Kaur (College of Horticulture and Forestry-COHF), Arundeep Kaur (COA) and Bainty Sharma (COA), won the title of the best athlete, second and third best athletes, respectively. Hindpal Singh (College of Basic Sciences -COBS) was adjudged as the best hockey player. Best table tennis player title of the university was conferred upon Gurteg Singh (COA) and Sehajpreet Kaur (COA).
During the closing ceremony, Mr SP Anand Kumar (IFS), Special Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, was the chief guest. While awarding certificates, cash prizes and mementoes to the winners, Mr Kumar lauded the students for displaying their stamina, grit and talent in sports and co-curricular activities.
Extending felicitations to the winners and the participants, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, who presided over the function, exhorted the youths, “Be proud products and alumni of PAU. Leverage all golden opportunities coming your way as this is the beginning of robust life.”
Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, said that the young budding athletes of the constituent colleges of the Punjab Agricultural University took part and competed in 27 events.
Dr KS Suri, Joint Director Sports, proposed a vote of thanks. The Deans, Directors and Officers of the University were also present. The results of the 59thAnnual Athletic Meet are as under:-
