Rajasthan Cracks Down on Illegal Fertilizer Storage: 319 Bags Seized, Legal Action Initiated
11 July 2025, New Delhi: In a decisive move to uphold fertilizer quality and regulatory compliance, the Agriculture Department in Rajasthan, India, has uncovered an illegal fertilizer storage operation in Chittorgarh district. Acting on an intelligence tip-off, a joint inspection team raided a warehouse in Narpat Ki Khedi village and seized 319 bags of unauthorized fertilizer stock.
The confiscated inventory includes 115 bags of bio-fertilizer (labelled CHAKD) and 204 bags of organic manure. The raid took place at a facility operated by Bherunath Enterprises and an adjoining cattle feed warehouse, where fertilizers were being stored without the required licenses.
Legal Action Against Offenders
Two individuals—Ladu Lal Jat and Khalkeshwar Tiwari, both from Bhilwara district—were found at the site and have been charged under India’s Fertilizer Control Order (1985) and the Essential Commodities Act (1955). First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed against them at the Chittorgarh Sadar Police Station.
To ensure product integrity, the department has collected representative samples from the seized stock for laboratory analysis. All confiscated material has been secured under official supervision at the warehouse.
Protecting Farmers and Input Integrity
The Rajasthan Agriculture Department emphasized that this crackdown is part of a broader campaign to safeguard farmers from substandard and counterfeit agricultural inputs. With fertilizers being a critical component in crop productivity and food security, the department reiterated its commitment to ensuring the availability of high-quality, certified inputs to the farming community.
