Union Agriculture Minister Orders Crackdown on Illegal Biostimulants; Only 146 Notified Products Permitted

03 September 2025, New Delhi: Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a high-level meeting in Delhi to review farmer grievance redressal systems. The Minister directed officials to integrate existing mechanisms into a single dedicated portal where farmers can register complaints, give suggestions, and seek assistance—ensuring faster and more transparent resolution.

A major focus of the meeting was the Minister’s directive on biostimulants. He made it clear that only 146 notified biostimulants are approved for sale in India and instructed officials to take strict action, in coordination with state governments, against the marketing of any unapproved products. He also asked that farmers be informed about the certified list of notified biostimulants through social media and awareness drives.

Chouhan noted that many farmer complaints relate to spurious fertilisers, seeds, pesticides, and biostimulants, which directly harm farmers’ interests. He stressed that transparency, sensitivity, and accountability must guide grievance resolution, and assured that he will personally monitor the process.

The meeting also reviewed complaints regarding installments under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) and claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). The Minister directed officials to ensure timely resolution and gather farmer feedback for complete satisfaction.
