Weather Update for Maharashtra: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Gusty Winds Expected Till 7 June 2025
03 June 2025, Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) in several parts of Maharashtra till 7 June 2025. Districts in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm activity.
Monsoon Progress:
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) has currently reached parts of southern Maharashtra, and conditions are becoming favourable for further advancement of monsoon over central and northern Maharashtra in the next few days.
Weather Systems Behind the Rain:
According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation is active over Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Marathwada, and an east-west trough extends from this system up to interior Karnataka. These combined systems are influencing the current weather activity across Maharashtra.
Impact on Farmers and Daily Life:
- Farmers in Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra are advised to delay harvesting or pesticide application to avoid damage from rainfall and thunderstorms.
- Gusty winds may impact unsecured structures, power lines, and cause temporary disruptions in rural areas.
- No heatwave conditions have been forecast for Maharashtra during this period, providing some relief from intense summer heat.
Advisory for Farmers:
- Store harvested produce in covered, safe places.
- Avoid working in open fields during thunderstorms.
