Conab Increases 2024/25 Soybean and Corn Estimates

13 September 2025, Brazil: In their 12th evaluation of the 2024/25 Brazilian crops, Conab increased their estimates for both soybeans and corn. The soybean estimate was increased 1.8 million tons to 171.4 million and the corn estimate was increased 2.7 million tons to 139.7 million.

Brazilian soybean farmers in 2024/25 increased their soybean acreage and recorded record yields. The 2024/25 acreage was 47.35 million hectares (116.9 million acres), up 2.7% compared to last year. The nationwide soybean yield was 3,621 kg/ha (53.9 bu/ac), up 10.3% compared to last year. The highest yield was recorded in the state of Goias at 4,183 kg/ha (62.3 bu/ac) with the lowest yield in Rio Grande do Sul at 2,342 kg/ha (34.8 bu/ac). The 2024/25 Brazilian soybean production was up 20 million tons or 13.3% compared to 2023/24.

The 2024/25 Brazilian corn crop is estimated at 139.7 million tons or up 20.9% compared to last year. The first corn crop is estimated at 24.9 million tons, up 8.6%. The safrinha corn is estimated at 112.0 million tons, up 24.2% and the third crop is estimated at 2.7 million tons. The safrinha corn crop represents 80.5% of Brazil’s total corn production, whereas the first corn crop represents 17.9% of the total production.

Brazil’s total grain production in 2024/25 set a new record at 350.2 million tons, up 16.3% compared to last year or 49,1 million tons. The production of soybeans, corn, rice, and cotton together represent an increase of 47 million tons.

Conab also revised their soybean estimates for the 2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24 growing seasons. The 2023/24 soybean crop was revised higher to 151.3 million tons from 147.7 million estimated in August.
