Fendt Launches Fourth Generation of 1000 Vario Series with Enhanced Power, Lighting, and Comfort

28 August 2025, New Delhi: A Decade of Evolution in High-Horsepower Tractors

Series production of the first generation of the Fendt 1000 Vario began in 2015. Ten years later, the fourth generation is here, setting new benchmarks in power, efficiency, lighting, and operator comfort. The latest models combine compact dimensions with powerful performance, a newly developed lighting concept, extended power ranges, and dual wheel hub options for heavy-duty applications.

Extended Power Range: 426–550 hp with DynamicPerformance

The fourth generation spans four models—Fendt 1040, 1044, 1048, and 1052 Vario—delivering between 426 and 550 hp (313–405 kW). All models are equipped with the Fendt DynamicPerformance (DP) system, which provides an automatic power boost of up to 30 hp depending on demand. Unlike conventional systems, DP works dynamically without speed or task limitations, supporting PTO work, hydraulics, and air-conditioning loads to ensure consistent output.

Power and Torque Specifications

ModelMax. PowerMax. Power with DP (ECE R120)Max. Torque (Nm)
Fendt 1040 Vario400 hp (294 kW)426 hp (313 kW)2,090 Nm
Fendt 1044 Vario440 hp (323 kW)466 hp (343 kW)2,280 Nm
Fendt 1048 Vario480 hp (352 kW)507 hp (373 kW)2,470 Nm
Fendt 1052 Vario520 hp (382 kW)550 hp (405 kW)2,650 Nm

This flexibility allows operators to adjust engine performance downward for lighter tasks, reducing fuel use while protecting implements.

Sustainable Engine Technology

The new MAN 12.4L, 6-cylinder engine is approved for HVO100 and alternative fuels under DIN 15940, significantly lowering CO₂ emissions. Optimized engineering has doubled the transmission oil replacement interval from 2,000 to 4,000 operating hours, cutting long-term maintenance costs.

Next-Generation Tractor Lighting: Up to 120,500 Lumens

Fendt introduces an innovative lighting system for the 1000 Vario series, crucial for nighttime work during seeding, harvesting, or winter operations. Farmers can choose between Vision and UltraVision packages, offering up to 12 LED spotlights with 4,400 lumens each, dimmable in five stages.

Key highlights include:

  • Independent spotlight control for glare-free work near traffic or in foggy conditions.
  • Up to four customizable light profiles for rapid adjustment.
  • Optional GroundVision drawbar lighting to improve implement attachment at night.
  • Integrated Tech Rails on the C-pillar for future sensors or additional lights.

Combined, these features provide farmers with unmatched field visibility and safety.

Operator Comfort: A Cab Designed for Long Hours

The cab of the fourth-generation Fendt 1000 Vario emphasizes operator comfort. Its suspension system, vibration-dampened power lift, and pneumatic seat suspension ensure smooth rides, even during demanding operations such as soil stabilization or heavy towing.

The Titanium Super Comfort Leather Seat features electronic adjustments, climate control, massage functions, and memory profiles accessible via FendtONE. The cab also integrates Apple CarPlay, rolling out in 2026, along with an improved 12L compressor cooler for food and drink storage.

Advanced Air Filtration for Dusty Conditions

The 1000 Vario now includes automatic cleaning for both engine and cab air filters. This system, ideal for hot or dusty environments, maintains air quality, extends service life, and prevents downtime during intensive tasks like baling or cultivation in dry soils.

Drivetrain Efficiency: VarioDrive and Fendt iD Concept

The drivetrain combines the single-stage VarioDrive transmission with the MAN engine. The Fendt iD low-speed concept allows high torque at reduced engine speeds, cutting fuel consumption while maintaining tractive power.

  • Rated engine speed: 1,700 rpm.
  • Main working range: 1,100–1,400 rpm.
  • Maximum speed: 60 km/h at just 1,450 rpm.
  • Maximum torque: 2,650 Nm on the Fendt 1052 Vario, available from 1,150 rpm.

The pull-in turn effect also improves maneuverability, reducing turning radius in the field.

Hydraulic Power and Payload Capacity

Designed for demanding operations, the Fendt 1000 Vario offers up to 430 l/min hydraulic flow with optional double-pump systems. The tractor supports six rear and one front hydraulic connection, enabling seamless use of high-demand implements.

With a permissible overall weight of 21 tonnes (at 40/50 km/h), operators can carry up to 7 tonnes of payload.

Axle and Tyre Innovations

Farmers can now choose from a wide range of axle and tyre configurations, including:

  • Row Crop dual tyres (480/95R54) now available in Europe.
  • dual wheel hub system that safely transmits higher forces across axles.
  • VarioGrip tyre pressure regulation directly from the factory, reducing slip and fuel use.

Additional ballast options include new wheel weights (1.3 t) and a front weight (2.2 t) with compact design to avoid obstruction of headlights.

Designed for Agriculture and Beyond

While the Fendt 1000 Vario Gen4 is tailored for arable farming, soil cultivation, and transport, it also meets the needs of forestry and construction industries, where implements such as wood chippers and stabilizers demand high horsepower.
