Prominent Hong Kong Barrister Appointed to Syngenta Group Board of Directors
03 March 2026, Switzerland: Syngenta Group announced today that Winnie Tam SC, SBS, JP has been unanimously elected as a new member of its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Ms. Tam is a Senior Counsel of the Hong Kong Bar and Co-Chair of Des Voeux Chambers, one of the leading barristers’ chambers in Hong Kong.
Ms. Tam is an Independent Director of Air China, a member of the Council of Advisers to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. She is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She held the position of Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association from 2015 to 2017, Chairman of the Committee on Intellectual Property from 2019 to 2022, and as Chairman of the Communications Authority of Hong Kong from 2018 to 2025. In 2016, she was named an Overseas Bencher of the Middle Temple Society of England. As a part-time High Court judge and an international arbitrator, she has adjudicated on a wide range of multi-jurisdictional disputes in corporate commercial, private equity, investment, international sales, intellectual property, licensing and franchising, and technology and innovation. She has consistently been named in peer-reviewed rankings as a top-tier leading barrister in IP law in Hong Kong, and a sought-after arbitrator across the regions. She earned her law degree from the University of Hong Kong and pursued further studies in intellectual property at University College London.
