UPL Strengthens Presence in Asia with Strategic Acquisition in China
10 July 2025, New Delhi: In a strategic step towards expanding its presence in Asia’s agricultural sector, UPL Ltd. has announced that its step-down subsidiary, Advanta Seeds International Mauritius, has signed an agreement to acquire full ownership of Wuhan Advanta Seeds Company Limited (Advanta China).
The acquisition, worth USD 4,200, marks UPL’s entry into the Chinese agri-inputs market. Advanta China, incorporated on June 25, 2024, is a newly formed entity that will focus on seed and agriculture-related business operations. Although the company is yet to commence revenue generation, its creation signals UPL’s commitment to growing its operations in high-potential markets.
This transaction is not categorized as a related party deal, and there is no involvement from UPL’s promoter group or affiliate companies. The acquisition does not require further regulatory clearances and is scheduled for completion by or before September 30, 2025.
The development aligns with UPL’s broader objective of expanding its global seeds business via Advanta Enterprises Ltd., where it holds a 74.69% ownership stake.
