Albaugh Receives U.S. EPA Registration for BIOST® 2G Nematicide + Insecticide Seed Treatment
31 October 2025, USA: Albaugh has announced that it has received end-use registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Reg. No. 84059-34-42750) for BIOST® 2G Nematicide + Insecticide, a new biological seed treatment that will be available for commercial sale in fall 2025.
BIOST 2G Nematicide + Insecticide represents the company’s second-generation biological seed treatment technology. The formulation contains a new active ingredient that has demonstrated efficacy against plant-parasitic nematodes and key soil-borne insect pests such as corn rootworm larvae, seed maggots, and wireworms. The product is a non-living, shelf-stable biopesticide designed to minimize crop losses by preventing insect and nematode feeding, while maintaining an environmentally compatible profile.
Chris Zita, Director – Albaugh Seed Treatments, said that the new product builds on the success of BIOST Insecticide 100 and BIOST Nematicide 100, combining their respective strengths into a single, optimized formulation. “BIOST 2G Nematicide + Insecticide utilizes a novel active ingredient that has been used across more than 20 million acres. It offers proven activity against both nematodes and insects, including corn rootworm larvae, at a low use rate in one convenient solution,” Zita stated.
Zita added that the new product expands Albaugh’s BIOST Nature’s Science™ platform and reinforces the company’s commitment to providing a diverse portfolio of high-performing seed treatment solutions for its customers.
Pending final state registrations, BIOST 2G Nematicide + Insecticide will be available for use in crops including corn, soybeans, cotton, cereal grains, potatoes, and others.
