
Carmeconazole Provisionally Approved as ISO Common Name for Triazole Fungicide
24 August 2025, US: The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has provisionally approved carmeconazole as the common name for a new triazole fungicide developed by Kureha Corporation, under the development code KNF-1934. The decision was made on 18 August 2025.
The chemical identity of carmeconazole is methyl α-[2-chloro-4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]-α-hydroxy-1H-1,2,4-triazole-1-propanoate with CAS number 2323565-15-5.
Stakeholders are invited to submit objections if they believe the name “carmeconazole” conflicts with existing trademarks. Any objections must be filed with the Maintenance Agency no later than 18 February 2026. If no objections are received, the name will be formally approved and published in a forthcoming edition of ISO 1750, which compiles preferred and common names for pesticides.
In French, the provisionally approved name is « carméconazole » (nm).
