ISO Provisionally Approves New Common Name “Nafoxametamide” for Isoxazoline Insecticide

10 November 2025, US: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has provisionally approved the new common name “nafoxametamide” for an isoxazoline-class insecticide developed by Shandong Chengchuang Lanhai Pharmaceutical Technology Co. Ltd. The approval was granted on November 4, 2025, under ISO’s pesticide nomenclature framework.

The Chinese common name for the compound is 萘异噁唑酰胺, and its full chemical designation is:
4-[5-[3-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4,5-dihydro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-3-isoxazolyl]-N-[(methoxyamino)methylene]-1-naphthalenecarboxamide [CAS No. 2922827-79-8].

The ISO Maintenance Agency has opened a six-month objection period, allowing stakeholders to contest the provisional name “nafoxametamide” if it is believed to infringe upon existing trademarks or other intellectual property.

If no objections are received by the deadline, “nafoxametamide” will become an officially approved ISO common name and will be included in the next edition of ISO 1750, which standardizes pesticide nomenclature globally and lists both preferred and common names.
