PotatoEurope 2026 and SugarBeet Expo to Be Held on 9–10 September in Germany

16 December 2025, GermanyDLG (German Agricultural Society) has begun preparations for PotatoEurope 2026, which will return to Germany on 9–10 September 2026, alongside the debut edition of the SugarBeet Expo. The two open-air trade fairs will be held in parallel at a new venue, Rittergut Gestorf 1 in Springe, near Hanover, creating a combined platform for professional potato and sugar beet cultivation.

PotatoEurope remains an established international meeting point for potato growers, processors and industry experts from Germany and abroad. The 2026 edition will once again showcase innovations across breeding, fertilization, crop protection, agricultural machinery and processing. The Union of the German Potato Industry (UNIKA) continues as the professional partner, with Golden Geest-Kartoffeln Erzeugergesellschaft mbH as the regional partner.

At the same venue and dates, DLG will launch the SugarBeet Expo, a new specialized exhibition dedicated exclusively to professional sugar beet cultivation. The SugarBeet Expo aims to serve as an international platform for innovation, technical exchange and investment decisions in the sugar beet value chain. The event is supported by the German Sugar Industry Association (WVZ), with Nordzucker AG as the regional partner.

Across both exhibitions, internationally leading companies from breeding, crop protection, digital agriculture, machinery and processing are expected to present their latest solutions. New potato and sugar beet varieties, as well as the impact of fertilizers and crop protection products, will be demonstrated through trial plots, while modern agricultural machinery will be showcased in live field demonstrations. Case IH will act as the technology partner for the event.

The two-day programme will be complemented by an extensive technical agenda, featuring expert forums, talks and interactive discussion formats. Topics will range from soil health and input efficiency to automation, robotics and digital tools, addressing key challenges facing modern potato and sugar beet cultivation.

Field preparations at the venue are already underway. Plots have been readied for sugar beet sowing and potato planting, while infrastructure such as exhibition areas, access roads and parking facilities is being developed.

Rittergut Gestorf 1, part of the Agrarpartner Limberg KG farming cooperative in the Calenberger Land, offers suitable agronomic conditions for both crops. In addition to potatoes and sugar beets, the cooperative cultivates wheat, rapeseed, peas and maize for biogas production, and also operates a horse boarding facility.
