13 August 2025, New Delhi: The Government of India’s flagship digital marketplace for agriculture, the electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM), has registered over 1.79 crore farmers since its launch in 2016, marking a significant step towards integrating India’s agricultural trade with transparent, technology-driven platforms.

Launched to enable farmers to secure better prices for their produce through a transparent price discovery mechanism, e-NAM is a virtual trading platform that links physical wholesale mandis across States and Union Territories (UTs), making agricultural commodity trading more efficient and accessible.

Driving Digital Integration in Agriculture

The e-NAM initiative, led by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, is seen as a cornerstone in the government’s push for digital transformation of agricultural marketing. By linking farmers directly with buyers and traders across the country, it aims to reduce middlemen intervention, improve market efficiency, and ensure farmers receive fair prices.

Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, shared these figures in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, emphasizing that the platform continues to expand its reach, bringing more mandis, traders, and farmers under its network each year.
