Prime Minister Modi Lays Foundation Stone of India’s First PM MITRA Park in Madhya Pradesh

18 September 2025, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the foundation stone of India’s first Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Bhainsol village of Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. Spread across 2,158 acres, the park is designed as a world-class textile hub, providing direct benefits to India’s cotton growers while strengthening the country’s position in the global textile supply chain.

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Modi also launched two major initiatives – Swasth Nari, Sashakt Pariwar (Healthy Women, Empowered Families) and National Nutrition Month. Addressing a large public gathering, he highlighted the transformative impact of the new textile park on the regional economy, employment generation, and export competitiveness.

Integrated facilities for textile value chain

The PM MITRA Park will offer state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a 20 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant, a 10 MVA solar power plant, uninterrupted water and power supply, modern road networks, and 81 plug-and-play units. Housing and social amenities for workers, particularly women employees, are also part of the master plan. To date, India’s leading textile companies have pledged investments worth INR 23,146 crore, with 91 companies already allocated 1,300 acres of land within the park.

The ‘5F’ model – Farm to Foreign

The project is built on the government’s “5F” approach – Farm → Fibre → Factory → Fashion → Foreign – creating a fully integrated ecosystem that connects cotton farming with apparel manufacturing and exports. Dhar was chosen for its strategic location, availability of raw materials, and proximity to key markets such as Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Indore, making it an ideal base for textile trade and logistics.

Other initiatives launched

During the event, Prime Minister Modi also rolled out several social and health campaigns. These included initiatives to address women’s mental health, anemia among adolescent girls, gender equality, and healthy lifestyles, along with programs to promote education, skills, and environmental conservation in tribal regions. He also launched the Suman Sakhi chatbot, marked the distribution of the one-croreth sickle cell screening card, and facilitated direct benefit transfers under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
