
Brazil Soy 9% Planted, Production Increased 2.0 mt to 175.0 Million
11 October 2025, Brazil: Farmers in Brazil had planted 9% of their 2025/26 soybeans as of October 3, 2024 compared to 4% last year according to AgRural. This represents an advance of 6% for the week and is the second fastest planting pace since AgRural has been tracking planting. Planting is being pushed by a record pace in the state of Parana.
The 2025/26 soybean planting in Brazil is getting off to a generally good start with 15% planted in Mato Grosso and 26% planted in Parana. A short dry period is expected during the first half of October with improved chances of rain during the second half of October. The main area of concern is central and eastern Brazil where the weather has been hot and dry with scant precipitation.
The 2025/26 Brazilian soybean production was increased 2.0 million tons this week to 175.0 million due to a rapid planting pace and a more optimistic view of the soybean acreage from Conab (nationwide) and the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) for Mato Grosso.
Mato Grosso – Soybean planting is off to a quick start in Mato Grosso with 15.0% planted as of October 3, 2025 compared to 2.0% last year and 6.1% average according to Imea. This represents an advance of 9% for the week. The most advanced planting is in the mid-north region where 24% of the soybeans have been planted. The slowest pace is in the northeast region where 5% of the soybeans have been planted. The planting pace may slow a bit this week due to lack of rain.
Parana – Farmers in Parana had planted 26% of their 2025/26 soybeans as of earlier last week. This is the fastest planting pace since AgRural has been tracking it. The crop is 63% germinating, 37% in vegetative development, and rated 99% good. The southern half of the state received good rains during September and early October, while the northern half of the state is somewhat dry. Some farmers in western Parana have already completed their soybean planting, which is very early.
