Escorts Kubota Launches ‘South Special’ Powertrac Shaurya Paddy Tractor Series in India

03 March 2026, Faridabad: Escorts Kubota Limited has launched the Powertrac Shaurya, a new ‘South Special’ paddy tractor series developed specifically for the wetland rice ecosystems of Southern India. The new range comprises five variants across the 39 HP to 52 HP category and marks the first time the Powertrac brand has introduced a dedicated paddy and wetland-focused tractor platform.

The Shaurya series has been designed for the major paddy-growing states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, strengthening Escorts Kubota’s presence in one of India’s most mechanization-intensive rice belts. The launch reflects the company’s strategy to deepen its footprint in application-driven segments and region-specific markets.

Escorts Kubota operates three tractor brands in India — Kubota, Farmtrac and Powertrac catering to the premium, entry-premium and value segments respectively. Powertrac represents the company’s value and mass-segment offering across multiple agricultural applications. With the introduction of Shaurya, the brand is expanding its role in specialized mechanization solutions tailored to specific crop and soil conditions.

Developed specifically for paddy cultivation, the Shaurya series is engineered to deliver reliable performance in wetland and waterlogged field environments. The tractors incorporate cassette-type sealing across critical aggregates to help prevent water and mud ingress during operations. A sharp turning radius of 3.1 metres supports maneuverability in small and medium-sized plots, a common characteristic of paddy fields in Southern India.

The series is equipped with a fully constant mesh gearbox offering eight forward and two reverse gears. Depending on the variant, it provides Sensi-1 hydraulic lift capacity ranging between 1600 kg and 2000 kg. An independent PTO lever with double clutch configuration enables controlled implement operations and supports advanced applications such as baler usage. Dual PTO speed options of 540/1000 along with reverse PTO functionality allow diversified paddy operations. The tractors also feature a perforated elevated platform suited for paddy use, protected wiring harness routing inside the fender channel to enhance durability in wet conditions, and an adjustable slider seat fitted with anti-slippery pads to support longer working hours.

Commenting on the launch, Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director, said, “Southern India is central to Escorts Kubota’s next phase of growth, and we are strengthening our presence through focused, high-quality, application-led products. The launch of Shaurya is in line with these objectives as we deepen our presence in paddy markets and expand our regional footprint.”

Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, stated, “Our product development begins with field conditions rather than standard platforms. Shaurya has been engineered specifically for paddy and wetland operations in Southern markets to deliver reliability in demanding applications.”

Bharat Madan, Whole-time Director and CFO, said, “This introduction strengthens our participation in the paddy segment in Southern markets and improves the regional composition of our tractor portfolio. Focused expansion in such application-driven segments is important to maintaining portfolio strength across cycles.”

Neeraj Mehra, Chief Officer – Tractor Business Division, added, “Powertrac Shaurya is designed specifically for wetland farming. Its maneuverability, sealing protection and versatile PTO configurations are aligned with the operational requirements of paddy growers across Southern markets.”
