ADAMA Secures First EU Registration for Ferrabait Molluscicide
09 September 2026, Beijing: ADAMA Ltd. has received its first European Union product registration for Ferrabait, a molluscicide based on the company’s Feralla active ingredient. The registration was granted in Latvia and is expected to be followed by registrations and commercial launches in other European markets, beginning with France, Sweden and Lithuania in 2027.
Ferrabait® is designed to control slugs and snails in crops. According to ADAMA, the product provides stop-feeding activity and control within three days of application. The registered uses cover cereals, rapeseed, potatoes and a range of vegetable crops.
The product uses ADAMA’s Desidro® Technology, a pellet manufacturing process involving multiple drying stages under controlled humidity conditions. The company says the process is designed to improve pellet palatability, integrity and durability. Comparative testing conducted by ADAMA showed greater persistence under wet conditions and resistance to mould compared with selected ferric phosphate-based molluscicides.
Ferrabait® is based on Feralla®, which was approved by the European Union as a low-risk active substance in 2025. The formulation contains 12 components developed to improve bait attractiveness to slugs and snails.
“European growers are facing increasing pressure to protect crops effectively while meeting evolving regulatory and sustainability expectations,” said Germain Boulay, Global Head of Herbicides and Molluscicides at ADAMA. “Ferrabait® provides growers with an additional tool for managing slug and snail pressure, combining field performance with the practical benefits needed for modern crop production.”
ADAMA said the Latvia registration provides the regulatory basis for further registrations and commercial availability of Ferrabait® in European markets from 2027.
