China-Cambodia Sign Major Durian and Mango Trade Agreements to Boost Cross-Border Fruit Supply

13 June 2025, China: The growing partnership between China and Cambodia in agricultural trade has reached a new milestone as companies from both nations entered into significant procurement and cooperation agreements. The Cambodian Agricultural Products Promotion Conference, held in Beihai City, Guangxi province, provided the platform for the latest round of trade discussions, reflecting the increasing importance of cross-border collaboration in agri-business.

Among the key agreements signed, a notable deal covering dried mango and durian trade was concluded, with a total transaction value exceeding 1.6 billion yuan. This is seen as part of a broader effort to enhance the agricultural trade corridor between the two countries and support Cambodia’s expanding fruit export sector.

Cambodia’s Sunlight Asian Fruit Company, represented by Chen Zhengrong, outlined an ambitious plan to build a comprehensive cold chain and logistics network to support year-round exports of Cambodian durian and other fruits to China. The company aims to diversify its product offerings, ensuring steady supply and consistent quality to meet growing consumer demand in the Chinese market.

According to official trade data from Guangxi authorities, trade between Guangxi and Cambodia reached 2.16 billion yuan during the first four months of 2025, marking a 7.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Imports of cashews, bananas, longans, and other tropical fruits remain key drivers of this growth. Beihai City alone recorded trade worth 990 million yuan, reflecting a sharp year-on-year increase of 277.29%. The city continues to emerge as a critical logistics and distribution hub for Cambodian agricultural produce entering China.

Alongside the trade agreements, discussions also progressed on the development of the Beihai Park within the China-Cambodia Industrial Park framework. Both sides reached consensus on site development plans and operational timelines, further advancing the bilateral cooperation in agri-trade infrastructure. This growing partnership is expected to open up new market channels for Southeast Asian fruit producers and strengthen regional food supply chains.

Global Agriculture continue to closely follow cross-border developments that shape international agri-trade and market dynamics.
