Storen Corn Herbicide Race Underscores the Importance of Starting Clean and Staying Clean

24 October 2026, Greensboro: To highlight the importance of a strong preemergence weed control program, Syngenta partnered with AGDAILY this summer for the Storen® Corn Herbicide Race. Students from Iowa State University and the University of Illinois raced remote-controlled cars through clean, weed-free corn rows treated with Storen corn herbicide, demonstrating the product’s ability to lay the foundation for season-long weed management.

Designed based on grower feedback, Storen combines four powerful active ingredients that work together to provide maximum residual performance and restore confidence in weed control.

“Growers know that starting clean is critical to protecting yield potential and managing weeds throughout the season,” said Dalton Webster, agronomic sales representative at Syngenta. “The Storen Corn Herbicide Race brought that concept to life, showcasing the clean rows that can result from a strong preemergence weed control program while highlighting the enthusiasm and innovation of future agricultural leaders.”

In recognition of the students’ participation, Syngenta is donating $3,000 to charities selected by the student teams. The Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement will receive $2,000, and Farm Rescue® will receive $1,000.

Jeremy Sharp, Syngenta corn herbicides product lead, expressed his excitement for the opportunity to show off the clean rows and clear results that Storen helps provide for growers.

“Herbicide-resistant weeds like Palmer amaranth and waterhemp are some of the biggest challenges that corn growers face,” said Sharp. “The last thing we want is for these weeds to keep coming back year after year and negatively impact a grower’s yield. High performing preemergence residual corn herbicides like Storen can make all the difference in keeping fields clean through canopy.”
