Syngenta’s Golden Harvest Unveils 2027 Corn and Soybean Lineup With New Nematode-Resistant Varieties
03 September 2026, Iowa: Syngenta’s Golden Harvest seed brand unveiled its 2027 corn and soybean product lineup at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, adding 14 new corn hybrids and 22 new soybean varieties as the company works to keep pace with rising pest pressure and disease resistance challenges facing U.S. row-crop growers.
Of the 22 new soybean varieties, 15 are built on the Enlist trait platform and seven on the Extend Flex platform, giving growers herbicide-tolerance options across both major weed-control systems used in U.S. soybean production. Three of the new varieties carry Peking-source resistance to soybean cyst nematode, a pest that costs U.S. soybean growers heavily in yield losses each year and has increasingly overcome the PI 88788 resistance source that dominated the seed industry for decades. Those nematode-resistant lines, designated GH2027E3S and GH2777E3S among others, target fields where SCN populations have adapted to older genetic defenses.
Matt Dolch, Golden Harvest’s corn product manager, said the company evaluates its lineup every year with an eye toward advancing its strongest performers, prioritizing insect and pest pressure management alongside root and stalk strength and early emergence vigor. Ryan Dunsbergen, the brand’s soybean product manager, oversaw the nematode-resistant variety additions as part of the broader 2027 soybean expansion.
The announcement came against the backdrop of a nearly 600-exhibitor Farm Progress Show, where seed companies, equipment makers and input suppliers compete for farmer attention ahead of the fall order season. Golden Harvest’s expanded SCN-resistant offerings reflect a wider industry shift, as soybean cyst nematode resistance breakdown has become one of the most closely watched agronomic issues in the U.S. Midwest, prompting Syngenta, Bayer, Corteva and other major seed companies to diversify the genetic sources behind their nematode tolerance claims rather than relying on a single resistance gene.
Herbicide-tolerant soybean platforms remain central to how U.S. growers manage resistant weeds such as waterhemp and Palmer amaranth, and Golden Harvest’s roughly even split between Enlist and Extend Flex varieties gives retailers flexibility to match seed choice to a farm’s specific weed-control program and any herbicide-drift restrictions in a given county.
