Syngenta Showcases AI and Engineering Innovations Shaping the Future of Agriculture at DevCon 2026
Pune-based technology teams develop digital agriculture solutions supporting farmers across global markets
05 September 2026, Pune: More than 500 developers, data scientists, engineers, agronomists, product champions and digital experts gathered in Pune for Syngenta’s DevCon 2026, held September 2–3, to showcase digital innovations and explore how artificial intelligence can transform agriculture.
The annual event, themed “Sharper Together,” brought together Syngenta’s global engineering community to share best practices, collaborate on new ideas and explore how AI and advanced digital technologies can help farmers make better decisions, improve productivity and advance sustainable agriculture.
Syngenta Group Global CEO Hengde Qin and Chief Information Digital Officer Feroz Sheikh opened the event virtually, highlighting the growing role of digital technologies across Syngenta’s business. They also discussed the importance of AI and agentic development in enabling the company to innovate, operate more effectively and deliver greater value in the future.
As Syngenta continues to expand its capabilities as an agtech company, DevCon 2026 highlighted the importance of engineering excellence, AI augmentation and knowledge sharing in developing the next generation of digital agriculture solutions.

Pune emerges as a global digital agriculture hub
A key focus of DevCon 2026 was the global reach of Syngenta’s Pune-based technology operations.
More than 90% of the digital agriculture solutions developed by Syngenta’s Pune technology teams support farmers and agricultural stakeholders across global markets, positioning Pune as one of the company’s key hubs for digital innovation.
The event brought together around 250 developers from across India, creating a platform for technical collaboration, knowledge exchange and problem-solving focused on digital agriculture.

Through technical showcases, peer-learning sessions and discussions on AI-enabled development, DevCon 2026 highlighted the growing role of engineering communities in shaping the future of agriculture.
The event demonstrated how Syngenta’s developers are moving beyond conventional software development to create digital tools and solutions designed to help farmers improve resilience, productivity and sustainability.
With agriculture facing increasingly complex challenges, the integration of AI, engineering expertise and agronomic knowledge is expected to play an increasingly important role in developing technologies that can deliver practical value on farms.
DevCon 2026 ultimately reinforced Syngenta’s view that the next generation of AgTech will be shaped by collaboration, continuous learning, engineering excellence and innovation at scale.
