Insecticides India Launches Granuvia in Karnataka for Paddy
23 July 2026, Bengaluru: Insecticides (India) Limited (IIL) has launched Granuvia, a granular insecticide for paddy cultivation in Karnataka, targeting two of the crop’s most economically significant pests brown planthopper (BPH) and stem borer.
The company said Granuvia contains Triflumezopyrim 0.45% + Chlorantraniliprole 0.50% W/W GR and is designed to provide long-duration protection against brown planthopper for up to 60 days after application, while also offering up to two weeks of control against stem borer during the dead heart stage. Granuvia is recommended for application 30–35 days after transplanting, a critical period when rice plants are particularly vulnerable to pest attacks.
Rice growers across India have faced increasing pest pressure in recent seasons. Brown planthopper outbreaks have resulted in repeated insecticide applications in several rice-growing regions, with severe infestations capable of reducing yields by 20–60%. Stem borer continues to be another major production constraint, with yield losses typically ranging from 10% to 30%, and significantly higher under heavy infestations.
Commenting on the launch, Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Managing Director of Insecticides (India) Limited, said rising pest pressure and changing climatic conditions are increasing the need for dependable crop protection solutions.
“Granuvia has been developed to deliver long-lasting pest control while supporting crop health and productivity. By addressing persistent challenges from brown planthopper and stem borer, it offers sustained protection during critical growth stages of the crop,” he said.
According to the company, Granuvia has been developed by Corteva Agriscience and will be marketed in India by Insecticides (India) Limited under its own brand.
Dushyant Sood, Chief Marketing Officer at Insecticides (India) Limited, said the product combines a novel mode of action with a granular formulation aimed at simplifying pest management in rice.
“Granuvia is positioned as a future-ready solution for modern rice cultivation. Its technology, field performance and ease of application are intended to help farmers strengthen pest management while supporting higher productivity,” he said.
The product features a granular formulation that can be broadcast using conventional farmer practices, including mixing with sand or urea before application. The company says this method reduces dependence on repeated foliar sprays while fitting easily into existing crop management practices.
