Insecticides (India) Limited Launches New Paddy Insecticide ‘Granuvia’

18 May 2026, New Delhi: Insecticides (India) Limited has launched Granuvia, a new paddy insecticide for the management of stem borer and brown plant hopper (BPH) in rice cultivation. The company said the granular insecticide is designed for application at 30–35 days after transplanting and offers long-duration control of BPH along with protection against stem borer during the critical crop growth stage.

Granuvia contains Triflumezopyrim 0.45% + Chlorantraniliprole 0.50% W/W GR as its active ingredients. The product has been developed by Corteva Agriscience. According to the company, the product combines control of brown plant hopper and stem borer in a granular formulation that can be applied through broadcasting after mixing with sand or urea, in line with common farmer practices.

According to the company, brown plant hopper infestations affected large paddy-growing areas in several states last year, leading to repeated pest management interventions by farmers. The company stated that severe BPH infestations can result in yield losses of 20% to 60%. Stem borer infestation, particularly the incidence of dead heart symptoms, also remains a major concern in paddy cultivation and can cause substantial crop damage.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Managing Director, Insecticides (India) Limited, said farmers are facing increasing pest pressure along with changing climatic conditions, creating demand for pest management products that are easy to apply and provide longer protection. He said Granuvia has been developed to offer sustained control against major paddy pests such as brown plant hopper and stem borer while supporting crop health and productivity.

Mr. Dushyant Sood, Chief Marketing Officer, Insecticides (India) Limited, said the product has been developed by Corteva Agriscience and will be exclusively supplied to Insecticides (India) Limited under the Granuvia brand name. He said the insecticide is positioned for rice farmers seeking pest control solutions with a different mode of action for BPH and stem borer management. According to him, the product’s granular formulation and field performance are expected to support pest management practices in paddy cultivation.

Mr. Manoj Singh Bhandari, GM and Crop Manager – Paddy, Insecticides (India) Limited, said the granular formulation has been designed to simplify field application and reduce the need for repeated sprays against brown plant hopper. He added that farmers are looking for products that fit into existing farming practices while lowering application cost and labour requirements. According to him, the product can help improve tillering, crop vigour and crop stand under pest pressure conditions.

The company said Granuvia provides up to 60 days of control against brown plant hopper and up to two weeks of protection against stem borer-related dead heart symptoms. It also stated that field demonstrations of Granuvia were conducted across paddy-growing regions to showcase its performance under field conditions.
