Fendt Launches Gen2 Track Tractor and 80-Foot Planter at Farm Progress Show

02 September 2026, Iowa: AGCO’s Fendt brand introduced three new pieces of equipment at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, on September 1: a redesigned high-horsepower track tractor, the largest planter Fendt has offered in North America, and an updated line of compact utility tractors, in what the company describes as its first global tractor launch to debut in the United States.

The headline product is the Fendt 1100 Vario MT Gen2, positioned as the company’s most powerful track tractor to date. It uses Fendt’s VarioDrive transmission with a reinforced driveline to handle the added horsepower, and it carries several features already familiar from other Fendt models, including SmartRide suspension for a smoother ride over rough ground, a steerable drawbar for tighter turns while pulling implements, and the FendtONE operating system that consolidates tractor and implement controls into one interface. A new passive cab air filtration system is also included. The tractor comes with Fendt’s Gold Star Customer Care package, covering three years or 3,000 hours, and is available for order now, with deliveries beginning in 2027.

Alongside the tractor, Fendt unveiled the Momentum planter in an 80-foot, 32-row configuration on 30-inch spacing, the largest Momentum model the company has built. It carries 130-bushel seed tanks and 1,000-gallon fertilizer tanks, and uses what Fendt calls SmartFrame technology together with integrated Precision Planting components, along with a five-section toolbar that flexes vertically to follow uneven ground more closely. Limited orders open this fall, with deliveries expected in spring 2027.

The third launch, the Fendt 300 Vario Gen5, is a refreshed lineup of five compact tractor models, including a new 310 Vario, ranging from 113 to 152 horsepower with an optional performance boost that adds roughly 10 additional horsepower. These smaller tractors also get the FendtONE interface, new ambient lighting for low-light work, a redesigned hood, and updated front loader attachments with independent hydraulic valves.

Company executives framed the launches as a statement of commitment to the North American market. Stefan Caspari, Fendt’s senior vice president for customer success and North American agriculture, said North American farmers judge equipment on power, productivity, efficiency and total cost of ownership, a standard the new lineup was designed to meet. Jason Lee, senior marketing manager for planters, said large-scale growers need to cover more acres in tighter planting windows without giving up precision, which the Momentum’s size and technology package is meant to address. Daniel Smith, senior strategic marketing manager, said the smaller Gen5 tractors pack the same technology focus into a compact frame with an easier-to-use driver’s station.

The launches come as North American farm equipment sales have been under pressure for several seasons amid lower commodity prices and tighter farm margins, making major manufacturers’ new-product decisions closely watched signals of where they expect demand to hold up. A very large, high-capacity planter and a flagship track tractor both point to continued investment in equipment for the largest row-crop operations, even as overall industry unit sales have been soft.
