Plenexos® is a next-generation ketoenol insecticide developed by Bayer for the control of important sucking pests. Its active ingredient is Spidoxamat, a new ketoenol chemistry developed through Bayer’s crop protection research. The product is designed to control pests including aphids, whiteflies, scales, psyllids, and mealybugs across crops such as soybean, cotton, fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural crops, subject to country-specific registrations and approved uses.
A key feature of Plenexos® is its systemic movement within plants. After uptake through the foliage, Spidoxamat moves through the plant in both directions, helping protect existing and newly developing plant tissue. Bayer has also developed Plenexos® for soil as well as foliar applications, including application through drip irrigation or drench systems in relevant markets.
Plenexos® is part of Bayer’s broader crop protection pipeline and was identified by the company as one of its potential blockbuster agricultural products. The product was commercially launched in Colombia in 2025, while Bayer has been pursuing registrations and launches in additional markets. In 2026, Bayer highlighted planned expansion into markets including Brazil, Mexico and the United States, subject to regulatory approvals.
