Vyconic™ soybeans are a soybean trait technology developed by Bayer Crop Science that provides tolerance to five herbicide active ingredients: glyphosate, glufosinate, dicamba, 2,4-D, and mesotrione. Bayer describes Vyconic as an industry-first soybean trait package combining these five herbicide tolerances, giving growers additional options for designing weed-management programs based on field conditions and weed pressure.

The technology is particularly relevant to herbicide-resistant weeds, including difficult-to-control species such as Palmer amaranth and waterhemp. By providing tolerance to multiple herbicide options with different modes of action, Vyconic is intended to support more diverse Integrated Weed Management (IWM) and herbicide-resistance management programs. Bayer’s research pipeline identifies Vyconic as a soybean trait with five herbicide tolerances, including the addition of 2,4-D and HPPD inhibitor tolerance through mesotrione.

Vyconic is currently in the pre-commercial development and regulatory phase. Bayer expects market introduction in North America in 2027, followed by expansion into Latin American countries in 2028, subject to applicable regulatory approvals. The technology is also part of Bayer’s broader Crop Science innovation pipeline and its planned soybean trait developments for the coming decade.
