Parijat Industries Launches New Herbicide Context for Wheat
28 October 2026, New Delhi: Parijat Industries has launched Context, a post-emergence herbicide containing Fluroxypyr 13.8% + Metribuzin 5.6% EC for broadleaf weed management in wheat. Introduced for the Rabi 2026 season, the product will be marketed in wheat-growing states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Context combines two active ingredients with different modes of action. The formulation eliminates the need to mix the two ingredients separately before application.
Addressing Weed Management in Wheat
Uday Raj Anand, CEO – Domestic Business, Parijat Industries, said the launch expands the company’s wheat herbicide portfolio and reflects its focus on developing crop-protection products based on farmers’ requirements.
He added that the company’s approach combines product development, market execution and farmer engagement to support crop protection and productivity.
Surender Agarwal, Head – Strategic Marketing, Parijat Industries, said that weeds such as Chenopodium album, Rumexspecies, Coronopus species and Solanum nigrum continue to affect wheat cultivation in several regions. While pre-emergence herbicides have helped manage Phalaris minor in many wheat-growing areas, broadleaf weeds remain a concern in some fields.
These weeds compete with wheat for moisture, nutrients and sunlight, potentially affecting crop growth and grain yield.
Herbicide Composition and Field Trials
Context combines Fluroxypyr, a synthetic auxin herbicide classified under HRAC Group 4, with Metribuzin, a photosystem II inhibitor classified under HRAC Group 5.
According to Parijat Industries, multi-location field trials at selected sites in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh showed weed-control performance when the product was applied at the recommended stage and dose.
The pre-mixed formulation removes the need for farmers to mix the two active ingredients separately. The company stated that application should follow approved label directions and local recommendations.
