FMC’s New Fungicide Isofenpyracarb Receives Provisional ISO Common Name Approval
07 September 2026, Geneva: FMC International Switzerland Sàrl (FIS Sàrl) has received provisional approval for the ISO common name “Isofenpyracarb” for a new fungicide active ingredient. Isofenpyracarb is described as a benzylcarbamate fungicide being developed by FMC International Switzerland Sàrl.
The active ingredient is chemically identified as methyl N-[[5-[1-[2,6-difluoro-4-(1-methylethyl)phenyl]-1H-pyrazol-3-yl]-2-methylphenyl]methyl]carbamate, with the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Registry Number 2417176-86-2.
The provisional approval is part of the international process used to establish standardized common names for plant protection active ingredients. Such names help regulators, researchers, manufacturers and other stakeholders identify active substances consistently across different markets.
Under the ISO process, interested parties can submit objections to the proposed name. In particular, objections may be raised if the name “isofenpyracarb” is considered to conflict with an existing company trademark.
Any objections must be submitted to the ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency by 2 March 2027. If no valid objections are received, isofenpyracarb will become an approved ISO common name and will be included in a future edition of ISO 1750, which will contain both preferred names and common names.
The proposed common name is isofenpyracarbe in French and изофенпиракарб in Russian.
At this stage, the ISO announcement concerns the standardization of the active ingredient’s common name and does not by itself indicate regulatory approval, commercial launch, or authorization for use in any particular country.
