ISO Provisionally Approves New Fungicide Common Name ‘Flupropamid’
26 August 2026, Geneva: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has provisionally approved “flupropamid” as a new common name for a fungicide developed by Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd.
The new ISO common name was provisionally approved on August 22, 2026, according to the ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency. The corresponding Chinese common name is 氟炔菌酰胺.
Flupropamid is identified chemically as N-acetyl-N-[2-(2-cyclopropylethynyl)-4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]-2-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzamide, with the CAS Registry Number [3104617-46-8].
The provisional approval begins a period during which interested parties can raise objections to the proposed common name. The deadline for submitting an objection is February 22, 2027. An objection could, for example, be based on a potential conflict between the proposed name “flupropamid” and an existing company trademark.
If no objections are received, flupropamid will become an approved ISO common name and will be included in a future edition of ISO 1750, which contains preferred and common names for pesticides and other crop-protection chemicals.
In French, the provisionally approved common name is “flupropamide.”
The provisional approval adds another active ingredient to the internationally standardized nomenclature used for crop-protection products and provides a recognized common name for the fungicide for future technical and regulatory references.
