ISO Provisionally Approves ‘Isofluorpyramide’ as Common Name for New Isoxazoline Acaricide and Insecticide

15 July 2026, US: The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has provisionally approved isofluorpyramide as the ISO common name for a new isoxazoline acaricide and insecticide developed by Anhui Shengfeng Biochemical Co., Ltd.

The provisional approval was announced on 14 July 2026. The active ingredient is identified chemically as:
4-[5-(3,5-dichloro-4-fluorophenyl)-4,5-dihydro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-3-isoxazolyl]-2-methyl-N-[1-(1-methylethyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]benzamide (CAS No. 3027861-23-7).

The Chinese common name for the active ingredient is 氟吡唑虫胺.

The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has invited stakeholders to submit any objections to the proposed common name by 14 January 2027, including concerns that the name may conflict with existing trademarks. If no objections are received within the consultation period, isofluorpyramide will become an officially approved ISO common name and will be included in a future edition of ISO 1750, which lists internationally recognized common names and preferred names for pesticides.

The provisional French common name has also been approved as “isofluorpyramide (nm).”
The approval of an ISO common name provides a globally recognized non-proprietary designation for an active ingredient, facilitating consistent identification across scientific literature, regulatory documentation, product labels, and international trade. While the provisional approval does not constitute regulatory authorization for commercial use, it represents an important milestone in the active ingredient’s development and global recognition.
