ISO Provisionally Approves New Insecticide Common Name ‘Dipyrisulfyl’
26 August 2026, Geneva: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has provisionally approved “Dipyrisulfyl” as a new common name for an insecticide developed by Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd.
The new ISO common name was provisionally approved on August 22, 2026, according to the ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency. The corresponding Chinese common name is 砜虫啶.
Dipyrisulfyl is identified chemically as 1-(difluoromethyl)-6-(ethylsulfonyl)-5-[3-methyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-yl]-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-b]pyridine, with the CAS Registry Number [3104793-78-1].
The ISO provisional common-name process now allows interested parties to raise objections. The deadline for submitting an objection to the name “dipyrisulfyl” is February 22, 2027. Objections could, for example, relate to potential conflicts with existing trademarks.
If no valid objections are received by the deadline, dipyrisulfyl will become an approved ISO common name and will be included in a future edition of ISO 1750, which covers preferred and common names for pesticides and other crop-protection chemicals.
In French, the provisionally approved common name is “dipyrisulfyle”.
The provisional approval represents the latest addition to the internationally standardized nomenclature for crop-protection active ingredients and provides a standardized common name for the insecticide for use in technical and regulatory communication.
