Pynflanilide Becomes Provisionally Approved ISO Common Name for New Meta-Diamide Insecticide
13 July 2026, US: The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has provisionally approved pynflanilide as the new ISO common name for a novel meta-diamide insecticide developed by Asynagro Co. Ltd. The provisional approval was granted on 9 July 2026 and published by the agency on 11 July 2026.
The new active ingredient, identified during development by its chemical designation, represents another addition to the growing pipeline of next-generation insecticides designed to address evolving pest management challenges. The compound is chemically described as N-[3-[[[2-bromo-4-[1,2,2,2-tetrafluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl]-6-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino]carbonyl]-2-fluorophenyl]-4-(2-cyclopropylethynyl)-N-methylbenzamide (CAS No. 3055895-43-4).
The ISO common name system provides internationally recognized names for pesticide active ingredients, enabling consistent identification across regulatory documents, scientific literature, product labels, and global trade. A standardized ISO name simplifies communication among manufacturers, regulators, researchers, and growers worldwide.
The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has invited stakeholders to submit any objections to the proposed name “pynflanilide” by 9 January 2027, particularly if the name is believed to conflict with an existing trademark or other intellectual property rights. If no objections are received within the prescribed period, the name will be formally approved and incorporated into a future edition of ISO 1750, which lists internationally accepted common names and preferred names for pesticide active ingredients.
The agency also confirmed that the Russian-language common name for the active ingredient will be “пинфланилид”.
