India Approves ₹5,547.99 Crore Procurement of Pulses and Oilseeds for Kharif 2026-27
01 October 2026, New Delhi: The Government of India has approved procurement of pulses and oilseeds worth ₹5,547.99 crore at Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27 in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the procurement plan, which covers key crops including tur, moong, soybean and sunflower.
The procurement is intended to provide price support to farmers in the three states, particularly in the event of market prices falling below MSP.
Uttar Pradesh Gets ₹3,992.57 Crore Procurement Approval
Uttar Pradesh accounts for the largest share of the approved procurement, with ₹3,992.57 crore sanctioned under PSS.

The procurement includes 4,66,000 metric tonnes of tur worth ₹3,937.70 crore and 6,250 metric tonnes of moong worth ₹54.87 crore, both at MSP.
Karnataka Procurement Valued at ₹1,107 Crore
Karnataka has been allocated procurement worth ₹1,107 crore for pulses and oilseeds.
The approved quantities include 1,15,500 metric tonnes of soybean valued at ₹659.27 crore, 38,250 metric tonnes of moong valued at ₹335.83 crore, and 13,413 metric tonnes of sunflower valued at ₹111.90 crore.
Telangana Gets ₹448.42 Crore Approval
In Telangana, the government has approved procurement worth ₹448.42 crore.
This covers 62,000 metric tonnes of soybean valued at ₹353.90 crore and 10,766 metric tonnes of moong valued at ₹94.52 crore, to be procured at MSP under PSS.
Focus on Pulses and Oilseed Self-Reliance
According to the Agriculture Ministry, the procurement decision is aimed at strengthening the economic security of farmers while supporting domestic production of pulses and oilseeds.
The government said the initiative will also contribute to India’s efforts to strengthen self-reliance in pulses and edible oils.
Chouhan said procurement arrangements at designated centres would remain transparent, with payments to farmers being transferred directly into their bank accounts in a timely manner.
The approved procurement across the three states is expected to provide a significant market-support mechanism for farmers producing pulses and oilseeds during the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27.
