KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Participated In The District-level Kisan Mela Organized By The Department Of Agriculture And Farmers’ Welfare
08 October 2026, Punjab: PAU–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, operating under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, actively participated in the District-Level Kisan Mela organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare at Shehan Shah Palace, Block Balachaur.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Mrs. Santosh Kataria, Hon’ble MLA Balachaur, Sh. Satnam Singh Jalwa, Chairman, Improvement Trust, SBS Nagar, and Sh. Lalit Mohan Pathak, Incharge, SBS Nagar. Attending as special guests, the dignitaries inspected the exhibition stalls and commended the ongoing extension initiatives of the PAU-KVK scientific team.
Addressing the gathering during the technical sessions, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Associate Director (Training), KVK SBS Nagar, alongside subject experts, delivered detailed lectures on modern crop production practices and balanced fertilizer management. Special emphasis was laid on in-situ and ex-situ paddy residue management, urging farmers to adopt mechanized sowing tools like the Smart Seeder and Surface Seeder to curb crop residue burning and preserve long-term soil health. The expert panel also briefed participants on vocational skill development training modules designed to enhance household farm incomes.
An exhibition stall set up by PAU-KVK showcased certified seeds of seasonal crops, value-added cereal products, eco-friendly jute bags, and homemade cleaning agents. The display generated high engagement among local farmers, farm women, and rural youth, who interacted with the extension specialists to learn about sustainable farming methods and home-based agri-entrepreneurship models.
