UK Clears New Cereal Fungicide Combinations and Expanded Insecticide Uses Ahead of 2027 Season

12 October 2026, London: Britain’s pesticide approvals pipeline added a cluster of new fungicide combinations and expanded insecticide uses for the 2027 growing season, according to the British Crop Production Council’s monthly roundup of UK Pesticides Register activity, published October 5, 2026. The update, compiled from official approval records, covers new product listings, label extensions and expiring authorizations tracked through BCPC’s UK Pesticide Guide.

Several of the month’s additions are new fungicide chemistry combinations rather than simple renewals. Syngenta listed Miravis Era, pairing prothioconazole with pydiflumetafen for cereal disease control, newly approved for Great Britain pending final marketing confirmation. BASF added three related products built around its mefentrifluconazole chemistry: Revysense, a straight 97 g/l formulation pending marketing confirmation, and two combination products, Yanila and Stelya, both pairing mefentrifluconazole with prothioconazole and both carrying approvals extended to September 30, 2029, replacing earlier BASF formulations of the same products.

On the insecticide side, FMC Agro secured new approvals for its cyantraniliprole-based products: Benevia 10 OD for carrots, targeting carrot root fly, and Preza 10 OD for potatoes, restricted to use before first berries are visible. Corteva’s clopyralid herbicide Shield Pro had its Great Britain approval extended to October 31, 2031, giving growers a longer planning horizon for that chemistry, while its Northern Ireland approval remains on a shorter timeline expiring in 2027. Syngenta also expanded the approved use of its biological fungicide Taegro, based on the bacterium Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain FZB24, adding brassica seedlings as a protected use against powdery mildew, with up to three applications permitted before plants are moved outdoors.

Below is a summary of the month’s notable new listings and expanded uses:

BASF’s UK agricultural product pages independently confirm Yanila and Stelya as active, registered mefentrifluconazole-prothioconazole combination fungicides, consistent with the BCPC listing. No product withdrawals were reported in this month’s update.

This is a routine monthly regulatory digest rather than a single dramatic announcement, but the pattern is notable: three separate mefentrifluconazole-based fungicide combinations from BASF reaching the UK market within one update cycle, alongside a new multi-site fungicide pairing from Syngenta, points to accelerating competition in cereal disease control chemistry as older single-site modes of action face resistance pressure. The simultaneous expansion of a biological product’s label, Syngenta’s Taegro, into a new protected crop stage reflects the sector’s continuing parallel investment in biological alongside synthetic chemistry.
