India’s Spices Board Warns Exporters Over Thailand’s Pesticide Residue Standards
21 September 2026, Kochi: The Spices Board of India has advised exporters of spices and spice products to ensure strict compliance with Thailand’s pesticide residue standards following reports of non-compliance in consignments exported from India.
In a Trade Advisory dated September 8, 2026, the Spices Board said the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) had reported instances where consignments of spices and spice products from India exceeded pesticide residue limits prescribed under Thailand’s regulations.
The Board said the non-compliance was primarily linked to exceedance of permitted pesticide residue limits, and urged exporters to exercise due diligence before shipping consignments to Thailand.
Exporters Asked to Follow Thai Residue Limits
The Spices Board has advised all exporters of spices and spice products to ensure that their consignments comply with the pesticide residue standards applicable in Thailand.
The Board has also made available an unofficial English translation of Thailand’s standards and regulations for pesticide residues in food, including spices, on its website to assist exporters in understanding the applicable requirements.
Exporters have been specifically advised to verify that consignments meet the prescribed limits under Thai regulations before export.
