Bipyribicyclone is a new herbicide active ingredient developed by Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co.The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) provisionally approved “Bipyribicyclone” as its common name on August 22, 2026. The proposed ISO common name is associated with the chemical 3-(5′-chloro-3′-fluoro-6-methoxy[2,2′-bipyridin]-5-yl)-4-oxobicyclo[3.2.1]oct-2-en-2-yl methyl carbonate, with CAS Registry Number 3104861-57-3.

The provisional approval is an important step in establishing a standardized international nomenclature for the active ingredient. Interested parties can submit objections to the ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency until February 22, 2027. If no objections are received, Bipyribicyclone will become an approved ISO common name and be included in a future edition of ISO 1750.

As a newly named active ingredient, Bipyribicyclone is relevant to the broader development of next-generation herbicides and weed-management technologies. Its regulatory progress, biological efficacy, crop and weed spectrum, formulation development, mode of action classification, resistance-management profile, and eventual commercialization will be important areas to follow as more technical and regulatory information becomes available.

This category features Bipyribicyclone research, ISO developments, regulatory approvals, product registrations, formulation development, field trials, weed-control studies, herbicide technology, resistance management, Qingdao KingAgroot developments, and global crop protection updates.
