Flupyradifurone is a systemic insecticide developed by Bayer and belongs to the butenolide chemical class and IRAC Group 4D. It acts on the insect nervous system through the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) and is used against a broad range of sucking pests, including aphids, whiteflies, leafhoppers, psyllids, scales, mealybugs and certain thrips. It can be applied through foliar sprays, soil drenches, drip irrigation and seed treatments, depending on the crop and local registration.

Flupyradifurone is the active ingredient in Bayer products including Sivanto® and Buteo®. Sivanto® formulations are used across fruit, vegetable, plantation and broadacre crops in different markets, while Buteo® is associated with seed-treatment applications. Bayer positions flupyradifurone as a tool for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) because of its systemic activity, flexible application options and selectivity toward many beneficial insects.

The active ingredient is also an important subject in pesticide regulation and resistance management. Flupyradifurone was first registered by the U.S. EPA in 2015 and remains registered in the United States. Regulatory approvals and permitted uses vary between countries and are subject to local assessments and label requirements.
