UK Pesticide Register Adds New FMC Herbicide and Bayer Fungicide in Latest Approval Round

13 October 2026, London: Britain’s pesticide regulator has authorized a new batch of crop protection products, including a new herbicide from FMC for winter oilseed rape and a higher-load fungicide from Bayer for cereals, according to BCPC’s September update to its Online UK Pesticide Guide database, published September 1, 2026.

The Online UK Pesticide Guide is maintained by BCPC (the British Crop Production Council) and tracks every product approval, label change, and expiry recorded by the Health and Safety Executive’s Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD), the body responsible for authorizing pesticide products in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The September update lists several newly approved or newly duplicated products, along with a set of active-ingredient expiry extensions and reductions that will affect which chemistries UK growers can plan around heading into the 2027 season.

Among the new approvals, FMC received clearance for a new chloracetamide herbicide, branded Koban (active ingredient penthoxamid), approved for use on winter oilseed rape up to the three-leaf stage. FMC also picked up two sulfonylurea herbicides, Parana and Seduce (thifensulfuron plus tribenuron), carried over from Certis Belchim, along with duplicate approvals of its existing Harrier and Inka SX herbicides. Bayer’s Siltra Plus fungicide was approved as a higher-strength version of its existing Siltra Xpro (bixafen plus prothioconazole), with a maximum dose per application reduced slightly from 1.0 to 0.95 litres per hectare to offset the higher active loading. UPL Europe gained approval for Plantivax, a laminarin-based biological product for berry fruit with a one-day harvest interval, and expanded uses for its existing Carpovirusine Max and Carpovirusine Ultra products to cover quince and plums. Smaller approvals went to Globachem (a duplicate of its Glotron 700 SC), Origin Amenity (Greentec Mosskiller Pro, transferred from Headland), and Sipcam Home & Garden (three acetic-acid-based weed and moss control products).

The update also recorded changes to how long several widely used active ingredients remain approved in Great Britain. Diflufenican-based products had their approval extended to February 2030, fludioxonil-based fungicide mixtures to March 2029, and flonicamid-based insecticides to September 2028, giving growers continuity on chemistries used across cereals, oilseed rape, and a range of other crops. Other actives moved in the opposite direction: mefentrifluconazole-based Vauo had its GB approval window shortened to July 2030, and pendimethalin-based Torres was reduced to July 2028, both reflecting the UK’s own, increasingly independent reassessment timeline for individual active ingredients since it left the EU’s pesticide approval system. A notable near-term item is an emergency approval for Gazelle SG (acetamiprid) to treat aphids in baby leaf crops and lettuce in Great Britain, which runs out on October 14, 2026, just a day after this report.
