UK Pesticide Register’s October Update Adds Syngenta Cereal Fungicide and New FMC, BASF Products

26 October 2026, London: The UK’s approved pesticide products register, maintained alongside decisions from the Health and Safety Executive’s Chemicals Regulation Division (HSE CRD) and tracked monthly by a widely used UK pesticide approvals guide, added a new cereal fungicide from Syngenta, two insecticides from FMC Agro, and several fungicide reformulations from BASF and Adama in its October 2026 update, published October 5, 2026.

The most notable new entry is Syngenta’s Miravis Era, a fungicide combining prothioconazole and pydiflumetofen, registered for disease control across a wide range of GB cereal crops. It is currently listed as a provisionally authorised release (PAR) pending a finalised label and confirmation that Syngenta intends to market it, a common intermediate step in the UK approvals process before a product reaches full commercial availability.

FMC Agro added two new insecticide formulations built around cyantraniliprole, a diamide active ingredient: Benevia 10 OD for carrots, expected to target carrot root fly, and Preza 10 OD for potatoes only, restricted to before the crop reaches the first-berry growth stage. FMC also confirmed that a third product, Koban, is being prepared for the 2027 season, with additional Extension of Authorisation for Minor Use (EAMU) applications still to be filed.

BASF Ag Solutions registered three products based on mefentrifluconazole, a relatively new fungicide active ingredient, while Adama registered a near-identical combination under different brand names, a common pattern in the UK register when multiple companies hold rights to the same active-ingredient mixture.

Beyond new product approvals, the October update also recorded a batch of new Extensions of Authorisation for Minor Use (EAMUs), which allow existing approved products to be used on additional, smaller-acreage crops not covered by their main label. BASF’s rename to BASF Agricultural Solutions (UK) Ltd, and the resulting move of many of its products to new MAPP numbers, triggered the reissuing of several EAMUs that are legally tied to a specific MAPP number rather than to the product name.

A long list of extended approval expiry dates for existing products was also recorded, spanning fungicide actives including fluazinam, amisulbrom and bixafen, as well as several herbicide actives, part of the UK’s ongoing programme of active-substance approval renewals following its departure from the EU’s pesticide regulatory framework.

No product withdrawals were recorded in this month’s update. Two apparent data inconsistencies are worth flagging for anyone cross-checking the register directly: MAPP number M21870 is listed against both Bayer’s Chekker and Gemini’s Constellation, and the MAPP number recorded for FMC’s Koban reads “M217758,” which does not match the standard numbering format and appears to be a transcription error in the source record.
